Esslingen offers a number of sporting opportunities around the FH and in the community. There is sure to be something for everyone.
Sports at the FHTE
The FHTE Hilltop Campus houses the school's main sporting facility, which includes a small weight room, in-door tennis courts, a climbing wall, and outdoor basketball courts. The equipment isn't necessarily high-tech or state of the art, but it's usable and accessible and free for all students to use after a short orientation tour. The FH also conducts various instructional courses from dancing to kick boxing to tennis. A complete list of courses offered and times can be found on the sporting facility's website.

Private Gyms
For those who would like a larger weight room with newer equipment, there are also several fee-based gyms around Esslingen. Easyfit is a popular fitness center located in Pliensauvorstadt, just a little outside downtown Esslingen. The Dick Center in downtown Esslingen also offers a full service gym.

Sportverein 1845 Esslingen
 The SV-1845 Esslingen sport club offers various different individual and team sports, from football to dancing to fencing to tennis. They even offer some information on winter sports, such as skiing. For a complete list of their offerings, please consult their website.

Martial Arts
Martial Artists will be happy to know that there are plenty of offerings in Esslingen. KSV-Esslingen is a judo hall in Mettingen directly across from the Palmenwaldstrasse Wohnheim and houses an 800 square meter matspace, which is one of the largest spaces in southern Germany. The hall is mainly dedicated to judo, but it also offers classes in Taekwondo, Aikido, and some other self-defense oriented courses. There is also a brand new weight/circuit training room located on site. Participation requires paying the annually and monthly fees, but there is a slight student discount. There is also a Chinese Martial Arts studio that teaches Wing-Tsun and Escrima, and it is located next to the downtown campus of the FH, and there are also a few other martial arts and budo schools located in downtown Esslingen.

On the Neckar River
The Neckar River runs through Esslingen most of the Stuttgart region, and of course it would be nice to take a quiet paddle down the river. It's possible to rent kayaks and canoes from the local canoe club, and the canoe club also offers training courses and tours along the Neckar.
